Desire with Digressions is a musical reading of a short story of the same name by Brian Evenson. The story explores the dissociative state of a single character, caught in the midst of flight from a former life. Pulled into an uncertain orbit, the character meets up with, and circles back to, various permutations of himself. The resulting variation form, with its noir-ish sensibility, becomes the basis for this musical reading, where piano and electronics suggest the affect of the surreal psychological journey.
